From Jan, 1st 2016 to May, 31st 2016 with the support from European Regional Development Fund and in cooperation with Institute of Physics of University of Tartu, Tehnolabor OÜ is conducting research project “Feasibility study and development of concept for dose measurement systems for high dose irradiation facilities”.
The project was initiated by the Estonian irradiation facility Scandinavian Clinics Estonia and the original idea was to develop a real-time measurement system, which could be used for more precise calculations to set irradiation doses in order to reduce irradiation time and therefore optimize the costs of the process itself.
Current procedures do not allow decision-making in real time whether required doses have been delivered and whether irradiation could be stopped. Based on the information stated above, it was proposed to study whether real-time dosimeter systems or their combinations with modelling (e.g. Monte Carlo method) tools could be implemented for process control and optimize current situation considerably.
FLEXIMOOVER – care device for people with a mobility disability
Fleximoover is a care device meant for people with a mobility disability, which was designed and developed for a Norwegian company Fleximed. The exercise device equipped with a motor and unique logic enables rehabilitation for different users from children to adults. The device was created in cooperation with the design bureau Iseasi.
Fleximoover is made exceptional by the fastening and support system of the patient’s legs and an intelligent motor, which reacts to the patient’s movement and considers the force applied. The device is usable for those in a separate lying-down wheelchair as well as a wheelchair.

PROAIR – device for the examination of corrosion in aircraft construction
In cooperation with Airbus we are taking part in the examination of corrosion in the aircraft industry. In the course of the project PROAIR or “Active protection of multi-material assemblies for aircrafts” we are developing an apparatus for Airbus in cooperation with the Aveiro university of Portugal, which enables examining the materials used in the aircraft industry and their behaviour in different conditions under laboratory conditions.
The project is funded from framework programme 7 of the European Union and it lasts a total of 4 years.Read more
Robotic information kiosks of the Tallinn TV Tower
Robotic interactive information kiosks are a part of the permanent display of the 22nd floor of the Tallinn TV Tower, which react to the movement of the visitor. The robots and logic are created by Tehnolabor, the author of the design is KOKO Architects.

Mobile controllers of international and inland transport vehicles
With the help of the controllers, companies offering logistics services can offer full solutions, where it is possible to track the journey of the vehicles and gather all the necessary technical information.

Wireless weapon simulator SIMU – easy and safe learning equipment for shooting training
Tehnolabor has developed a wireless weapon simulator SIMU which is an easy and safe means of instruction for a trainee at every age in state defense lesson or for a soldier as a training device.
Simulator based on the copy of a Galil-type weapon with infrared laser imitates the realistic shooting as genuinely as possible, both the classical round-shaped and silhouette targets are available. The wireless technology and the absence of ammunition enables to use it comfortably in shooting ranges as well as in class rooms and outside conditions for sports games.
SIMU set includes:
- Copy of a Galil-type weapon equipped with infrared laser beam
- Electronic target equipped with camera
- Laptop computer with pre-programmed software
Features of SIMU:
- Wireless solution –no connection wire between the weapon and compute
- Imitates backfire
- Low power IR (infrared) laser is used to imitate a shot
- Regular round-shaped and silhouette target
- Distance to the target is about 5 m and this imitates a shooting distance of 100 m
- A personal results chart is filled for every shooter
- Enables to practice shooting, point shooting and to keep group record
- Based on all performances the computer will make a follow-up analysis and summaries that can be printed out
- Full-automatic calibration
- Silhouette target (in addition to the regular round-shaped sports target)
- English and Finnish user interface
- Better applicability in outdoor conditions thanks to new camera and improved software
